Tips & Tricks to Incorporate Fall Decor at Home

The calendar says September, school’s back in session, and it’s time to banish the beachy themes and pull out the pumpkins!  One benefit of decorating for fall in September is how much mileage you get from it--three whole months!  You can enjoy your fun fall decor until Thanksgiving!

Not sure where to start? The first thing you’ll want to use, of course, is a festive door wreath to announce to family and guests that the season has arrived and that you have more fall loveliness inside.

Celebrate the bounty of the harvest with a rich-toned wreath in traditional colors, or take the road less traveled and try some of the newer combos, like teal and navy or pink and burgundy. Either way, the pumpkins will carry your autumn theme.

A whimsical doormat reflecting the season is also a great way to welcome guests.

Inside, make your entry hall a lovely preview of the fall displays throughout your home.

A vase of blooms in rich fall colors, a scattering of faux pumpkins (we love the velvet ones!) and a bit of fall signage is all it takes to create a beautiful seasonal grouping on your foyer table!

Another idea for your entry table--or any table in your home--are wooden bowls , bird cages and wire baskets heaped with faux pumpkins. Check out all the pumpkin varieties available to you: metal, glass, ceramic, wood, corn husk, and of course fabrics like velvet, linen and wool. Do you lean toward primitive or posh pumpkins?

If pumpkins are your go-to fall item but orange is not your thing, you certainly have options. Neutrals for seasonal decor have never been more popular, so you’re sure to find some wonderful fall decorative items in grey, black, white and cream, and wood tones, as well as luscious metallics of all kinds

The neutral version of fall decor is especially pretty in the kitchen, where you can feature lots of wooden tiered trays, servers, and other countertop accents.  Mini pumpkins in any color are a great seasonal tie-in for your tiered trays.

Don’t forget your fall themed soft goods--towels on your oven door or as fanciful placemats, runners accenting your tablescape, rich throws draped across your sofa and soft pillows plumped up in a chair.  Each adds that needed punch of color and texture to your vignettes around the house!

There’s lots of fall inspiration to consider, and we haven’t even mentioned your dining tablescapes. We’ll save that for next time!
