March proverbially “comes in like a lion, and goes out like a lamb.” As the blustery winter winds die down and warm sun coaxes buds to pop out seemingly overnight, it’s time to prep for spring by displaying sweet and whimsical Easter decorations.
Here are some of our tips for incorporating timeless spring holiday themes into your home.
Big on bunnies
Can’t do Easter without bunnies, of course! Whether you lean toward realistic or stylized, pastel or white, there are myriad ways to cater to the cottontail in your spring decorating.
Arrange a grouping of similar style bunnies on your mantel with a garland of greenery, for instance. Or spotlight a single large rabbit figure on a table with a vase of early blooms, especially those spring superstars, the tulips.
Another idea is to use two or more smaller bunnies to create a sweet vignette on a breadboard, tray, or tabletop. Using cloches instantly focuses attention on those furry fellows.
(Anyone can do this, and little things mean a lot: bunny pump soap and towels in the powder room!)
It’s also fun to pull out a few pieces of bunny serveware at Easter time, along with bunny table linens, like napkins and runners.
Care for carrots?
Your kitchen and table linens are also a great place to show off the natural follow up to rabbits–carrots! They’re a fun and colorful motif for the spring season.
Other options for spring textiles? How about whimsical Easter themed pillows? Some-bunny at your house would surely love to see this!
More thoughts on carrots: arrange a double handful of faux carrots in a kitchen basket or feature a carrot tree floral design on your table or countertop. Delightful!
Speaking of florals, they offer endless possibilities for spring and Easter whimsy. How adorable is a moss bunnikins in a basket for your mantel or table? A delightful bunny figure with a simple moss nest and egg? Maybe tulip and egg rings to set off your spring scented candles?
Eggs-actly what we need
Colored eggs are inseparable from an Easter celebration, of course, so make them a part of your colorful spring decor, as well.
Create a stunning spring centerpiece for your entry console, coffee or dining table: fill a lovely bowl or basket with decorative eggs made of resin, ceramic, yarn, even dried flowers. Wait for compliments!
Eggs for your twig ornament tree? Egg artwork for your walls? Yep.
Egg topiary for your foyer console or candlestick topper for your mantel? That, too.
Set some of these Easter-themed accents among your regular decor and you’ll have instant spring cred.
Crosses, of course
Many display crosses in their homes year round, but these decorative pieces are especially meaningful in the Easter season. Cross themed artwork and accessories can serve as a devotional reminder.
For example, set out a decorative cross as a book place holder. Or use crosses to adorn a spring floral wreath.
Crosses and cross-trimmed wood beads on a tray will accent florals, figurines, and other spring decor.
